DEFIANCE COUNTY/CITY BIKE PATH PROJECT THIS YEAR

The city of Defiance and Defiance County are joining together for a project that will enhance biking and pedestrian traffic along the Maumee River.  It’s called the county road 424 project, which is utilizing 1.3 million dollars in grant money for the construction of these bike and pedestrian paths, that will link the new bridge to be constructed on Clinton Street in Defiance next year, with Independence Dam State park.   It’s a project also designed to eliminate discharges into the river.    Defiance County and the City will be required to pay 5% of the total project cost.   There is a 120 day construction window, with this project slated to begin this fall or next spring.
