Due to heavy demand, the Ohio Bureau of Worker’s Compensation is more than doubling its funding for a new grant program designed to protect fire-fighters from carcinogens and other toxins that can cause long-term health issues. The BWC has received over 440 requests for funding in this protection program for fire-fighters. These public safety employees and volunteers have a 14% higher risk of dying from cancer than the general public, due to the toxic environments they come in contact with.
