The city of Napoleon is making plans for grant applications for two sizeable projects. One is to enhance pathways from Ritter Park to the downtown area, but also putting-in sidewalks along Jahn’s Road, and crossings on Bales Road and West Riverview. The improvements should make for safer travel for children and bicyclists travelling through parks and to school. Napoleon is seeking 1.1 million dollars for the project, and would have to pay about $62,000 locally, if approved.
Another grant would help Napoleon improve the infrastructure around the new Henry County Senior Center on Rohrs Street. This would allow for a connection to the Lutheran Home. It’s also part of a major project to build a senior housing development to the east of the senior center and Lutheran Home. A developer is proposing a 48-unit housing development for residents over 55. It would include an extension off Raymond Street.
