They buy products from over 600 local producers, and employ close to 50 at their production plant in Northwest Ohio. We’re talking about Poet Biorefining of Leipsic, a company that recently celebrated its 10th birthday. Plant manager Ken Miceli says they have grown significantly over that decade. The Poet ethanol plant has also been a model of safety, who no lost hours due to injuries for over 5 years. Miceli reports nearly 25% of the local corn crop is now going to the bio-fuel industry.
