Guns were blazing on opening day of the deer gun season in Ohio, with 22,366 white tail deer checked-in. That’s an increase of 3,600 over last year’s opening day.
Leading the way in northwest Ohio was Defiance County with 252 checked-in, and Williams County at 251. Both numbers were big increases over last year’s opening day. Henry County hunters bagged 112 deer on the first day, Fulton County hit 101, and Putnam County 94.
Coshocton County led the way in the Buckeye State with 924 deer bagged on opening day.
