The Defiance County Commissioners got an update on a grant application that should enhance economic development. Pioneer Railcorp, owner of the rail line from Napoleon to just outside of Ft. Wayne, is seeking a Tiger Grant for 12 million dollars to upgrade their line. Pioneer Railcorp has committed 20% of the cost toward this project.
And Secretary of State Jon Husted, a native of Montpelier, is visiting APT Manufacturing Solutions in Hicksville today (Tues). Husted will get an up-close look at their workforce development programs that tap into an apprenticeship program, a high school training center, and a veteran’s program.
