The criminal investigation into the fatal accident involving the ‘fireball’ ride at the Ohio State Fair has concluded. The highway patrol conducted that investigation, interviewing over 80 witnesses, including those who were on the ride when the accident occurred. They also tested the ride itself, along with other experts. Evidence was presented to Franklin County prosecutor Ron O’Brien, who reviewed the case, and decided there was not enough evidence to proceed with a criminal indictment. The ride equipment will remain stored at the Ohio State Fairgrounds until it is released to the company, Amusements of America.
