DEFIANCE COUNCIL APPROVES SAFETY IMPROVEMENTS

With an increase in traffic anticipated on the south side of Defiance, due to the opening of a new school, and a new restaurant coming to the neighborhood, Defiance Council is concerned about safety.   The board has approved an application for funding from ODOT to install a round-about at the intersection of Palmer Drive and Jefferson Street.   The new Defiance high school-middle school is scheduled to open after Christmas break in 2018.              And the Defiance Veteran’s groups have raised and donated over $31,000 to help pay for improvements to the veteran’s section of the Riverside Cemetery.   That work will commence immediately, in hopes of being wrapped up by Veteran’s Day this year in November.
