A Bluffton Police officer has been killed in a pursuit situation that roared through northwest Ohio Thursday, beginning at 2am in the area of Marion. A dark sedan was travelling at a high rate of speed on Route 23, and eventually was spotted in Hancock County on I-75, then headed southbound toward Lima. At about 2:30am Thursday, Bluffton Police officer, Dominic Francis, age 42, was attempting to deploy stop sticks on the highway when he was struck by the fleeing auto. Dominic Francis died of his injuries in that collision. Three subjects fled on foot from the scene, and soon after reportedly stole a vehicle from a residence in Hancock County. One of the suspects was taken into custody in that area; but the other two reportedly fled. A second suspect was later arrested in a traffic stop in the city of Elyria near Cleveland. The third suspect was arrested Thursday afternoon around 1pm. The names of the three suspects have not been released by troopers. The Ohio Highway Patrol reports many agencies played a part in making the arrest of all three suspects possible in this fatal pursuit incident.
