WAUSEON SCHOOLS SEEKING FIRST INCOME TAX FOR DISTRICT

The Wauseon School Board has approved a resolution to seek passage of the district’s first ever income tax by voters. The board is seeking to raise just over 4-million dollars for current expenses, and permanent improvements in the Wauseon district. The proposed levy would go on the ballot in November, and is an earned income tax, which means it would not impact retirees. The plan if the income tax is approved, is to seek a reduction in property taxes for the Wauseon schools going forward. The Wauseon Board of Education also approved a resolution to place a renewal levy on the ballot in November for the Wauseon Public Library, at 1 mill. And the Wauseon Schools are proceeding with a contract for a roof replacement project at their primary school building. The contract goes to Advanced Concepts, Inc. of Canal Winchester, Ohio at nearly $318,000.
