The highway patrol investigated a fatal All-terrain-vehicle crash that occurred in Putnam County Sunday night. At about 9:35pm Sunday, 31 year old Zachary Cassidy of New Bavaria was travelling northbound on Putnam County road 19 on a Yamaha YXZ. Zachary Cassidy lost control of the dune-buggy like 4-wheeler, and struck a utility pole. The unit overturned, and Cassidy was ejected from the vehicle suffering critical injuries. Zachary Cassidy was pronounced dead at the scene. The location was just west of Kalida on Putnam County Road 19 in Jackson Township. Troopers report the victim was not wearing a helmet, or safety restraints in the vehicle.
