The CASA program in northwest Ohio utilizes volunteers that share their time to serve as advocates for children in courtroom situations, looking at the best interest of these youngsters when there is abuse or neglect in the family.Last year in Defiance County, 29 children were served, and volunteers provided more than 650 hours to be their independent voice.If you have the motivation to look-out for the best interest of these children in court cases, contact northwest Ohio CASA.In the past year, 6 new volunteers were added to the team in Defiance County.Applications are accepted year-round.
Defiance County Commissioners got an update on this program at their meeting Monday, and approved funding of $10,000, which matches last year’s figure.
