A fire is still burning at the Metal X recycling facility on the west side of Delta.Fire Chief Scott Smith says the blaze is under control, but crews are still at the site separating metal, and keeping the flames from spreading to buildings.The location of the fire is near the intersection of Airport Highway, which is route 20-A, and route 109.The cause of the fire is unknown, and there is a report of a minor injury.The Ohio E.P.A. is currently conducting air quality tests in the area.Delta mayor Dan Miller reports the village proactively issued a boil water advisory for the village Monday evening till the water situation stabilized; but that was lifted later Monday night.Metal-X has a reservoir at the site, and fire fighters have drawn water from that source.The company and the village of Deshler have issued a thank-you to all surrounding fire departments for assisting in getting this blaze under control.The fire actually developed in a pile of scrap metal feedstock at the shredder infeed location.It’s reported there were 30 fire departments on the scene at one point during the blaze.Motorists are still warned to stay away from the intersection of U.S. 20-A and state route 109, since both highways remain closed on the west side of Delta.
