The move toward a new swimming pool complex for Napoleon is gaining momentum in the community. A number of residents turned-out for the Napoleon Parks and Recreation Committee meeting Monday to show support for a new facility. The current Glenwood Park pool is well over 40 years old, and very costly to maintain. Napoleon Council has approved creation of a committee of local residents, council members, parks and rec representatives, along with city staff to take a look at the situation.
The price tag for a new pool facility would likely hit into millions of dollars, so paying for the project may have to rely on a bond issue or tax levy. That is something likely to take place next year. But the swimming pool committee will come up with more definitive costs for a new complex next month.
