NAPOLEON COUNCIL APPROVES SR. HOUSING PROJECT

It’s full speed ahead for a proposed senior housing project in Napoleon, after city council approved the recommendation of the planning commission for a conditional use permit.  The cottage development of close to 50 units would be located on an extension of Raymond Avenue.   Construction would likely get underway next spring.   Some residents on Raymond did express concerns about increased traffic to council Monday night.

Napoleon Council approved the sale of the former senior center building on East Clinton Street, with closing set for October 2nd.

                   Look for Napoleon Council to take-up the issue of sewer rates soon.  At the Monday meeting, council authorized the law director to bring legislation for a 5% increase in sewer rates. 

The topic of changes in water rates will go to the Napoleon Board of Public Affairs in October.                               Napoleon Council is moving forward with a grant application for downtown revitalization.  The first step will be planning for the downtown needs, headed toward an application in 2020.

                   And a donation of $2,000 was made to Napoleon fire and rescue for fire prevention programming by Goodville Mutual Insurance.
