A Northwest Ohio governmental agency has voiced opposition to a preliminary plan to tap into the Michindoh aquifer to expand fresh water options in the region. Defiance County Commissioners passed a resolution to deny drilling access to the aquifer until a hydrological study can determine if there is a sufficient supply of water. The resolution passed unanimously, and is in response to a private company seeking to drill into the Michindoh aquifer as a possible water source for communities in Henry and Lucas Counties. Liberty Center and the Henry County Regional Water and Sewer District were part of this request for drilling, and communities like Whitehouse and Perrysburg have been part of the dialogue.
