The Holgate School Board has decided to take a look at the invitation of the Buckeye Border Conference to join their league.At their board meeting Monday night, Holgate approved setting up a committee to explore the move, which will include school administrators, coaches, community members, and even some students.There will be information provided to the public as the process unfolds; but the BBC has offered the invitation with a 60 day deadline to respond.Holgate district residents are invited to fill-out a survey on the question of changing from the Green Meadows Conference to the BBC, which will be on the district website soon.
The Holgate School Board approved the football team joining an 8-man football league called the Northern 8.The conference is expected to include Stryker, Danbury and Toledo Christian, if their school boards approve.They have already selected Joel Miller as their commissioner.The BBC does not have football as a conference sport.The schools in the Buckeye Border Conference that do play football, like Edon and Montpelier, are part of the Toledo Area Athletic Conference for football only.
