Some late changes in the House Tax Cuts and Jobs legislation were applauded by 5th District Congressman Bob Latta. The Congressman says middle class families will benefit from the changes because it allows taxpayers to deduct student loan interest, and protects the medical expense deduction. The new tax bill nearly doubles the standard deduction for income taxes, and the child tax credit goes from $1,000 to $2,000. Latta also believes this tax legislation will create more jobs, and will allow a family of four making the median income to keep $2,415 more of their tax dollars.
