If you invest hundreds of thousands of dollars in streets each year, it makes sense to protect that investment. That’s the thinking of Defiance City Council, as they approved a contract with Strawser Construction Tuesday night, to apply a surface treatment to streets, to preserve them longer. The cost for the application will be just over $109,000.
Defiance Council is taking advantage of grant dollars, and favorable year-end prices to purchase new playground equipment for the park on Holgate Avenue. Council will spend nearly $27,000, which also includes a rebuild of the park shelter.
And the move of the Defiance Street Division to Quality Drive has already taken place. The last item is to move a couple of fuel tanks for diesel and unleaded fuel. That cost was approved last night at $42,750; which is much cheaper than purchasing new tanks.
